But by the end of the 20th century, those sleek lines had fallen out of style, and “a layer of dust had settled over the whole town,” says Adéle Cygelman, who penned Palm Springs Modern, the first book on modern architecture in the desert city, in 1999. “It was like Sleeping Beauty.”
